ALPINE PEAKS, Placer County — October 31, 2026. Alpine Peaks property owners have a fast-approaching deadline to request wildfire-fuel chipping service. The North Tahoe Fire Protection District states that Sunday, November 1, 2026 is the final day to submit a request for its 2026 curbside chipping season.
The district’s official rotation schedule specifically places Alpine Peaks, Ward Creek and Pineland in Area 3, alongside other west-shore communities. The last regular Area 3 visit was listed for October 5–8. The district says crews will try to address remaining piles across all neighborhoods during November 2–5; submitting a request is not a guarantee of pickup.
How to prepare a qualifying pile
Under the program’s rules, vegetation piles may be no larger than 6 feet high, 6 feet wide and 20 feet long, with cut ends facing the roadway and pieces no more than nine inches in diameter. The program excludes construction lumber, stumps, dirt and other non-vegetative waste. Chips are ordinarily left on the property.
The service is grant-funded for eligible residential properties; contractors’ large piles and most commercial properties are not eligible. Owners must still submit their own requests rather than assume a prior neighborhood application covers them.
Questions can be directed to (530) 584-2322 or Chipping@ntfire.net. Residents should verify the remaining availability and the correct online request form on the district website.
