ALPINE PEAKS, Placer County — October 31, 2026. A North Tahoe Fire Protection District program listing identifies Alpine Peaks as a Firewise community in good standing, reflecting a neighborhood approach to reducing wildfire fuels around homes.
Firewise USA recognition is associated with community organizing, risk assessment and ongoing work to reduce hazards. It does not certify that any individual house is fireproof or eliminate the need for defensible-space maintenance.
How the 2026 green-waste program works
North Tahoe Fire says its 2026 free green-waste dumpsters are intended for recognized Fire Adapted Communities and Firewise sites. Neighborhood leaders or committee members may submit requests on behalf of participating groups. The advertised service window is May through October 2026; October 31 is therefore the end of the stated season, not an assurance that additional pickups will be available in November.
Owners should coordinate with the Alpine Peaks Residents’ Association rather than ordering a container and assuming the district will pay for it. They can ask the fire district whether another allocation is planned for 2027.
What residents can do now
Keep vegetative debris separated from trash, coordinate cleanup days and consider free educational defensible-space inspections. Avoid blocking roads with brush piles or storing chips close to combustible structures. Wildfire preparation is continuous work, even in a community with active recognition.
